The world's oldest-known person has died at a nursing home in southern France.

Lucile Randon, also known as nun Sister André, died Tuesday at the age of 118.

According to a spokesperson, she was born on Feb. 11, 1904.

Sister André dedicated most of her life to religious service.

During World War II, she looked after children. She also spent 28 years caring for orphans and the elderly at a hospital.

According to the Guinness World Records, Sister André was also the oldest nun and oldest COVID-19 survivor.

The spokesperson said about her death "It was her desire to join her beloved brother. For her, it is freedom."

There's been no official announcement yet on who will be named the next 'world's oldest person.'
