White Plains Mayor Tom Roach and several council members took on a different role today by delivering Meals on Wheels throughout the city.
Despite the inclement weather, local lawmakers and volunteers gathered at White Plains High School this morning to participate in the nationwide effort known as "March for Meals."
The group loaded into multiple cars, ready to embark on seven different routes to deliver meals to older residents who are unable to shop or cook for themselves due to medical reasons associated with aging.
This initiative aims to draw attention to the importance of fully funding the Older Americans Act and Community Development Block Grants. These funds not only support Meals on Wheels but also other programs feeding seniors across the nation.
Today's initiative coincides with Westchester County declaring March as Senior Nutrition Programs Month, highlighting the significance of ensuring nutritional support for seniors in the community.
