White Plains native Travis Williamson held a backpack giveaway and free haircut event on Monday to give back to students in the community he was raised in.
With the help of donors and those in the area, the event featured 100 brand new backpacks, food, vendors, and free haircuts.
"It's important to me because when I was younger, 17, 18, there was a host of events that used to happen in the community. So it’s important to me as an adult now that I give back to my community of White Plains,” Williamson said.
The event was open for anyone just starting school through 12th grade.
