Heading into the weekend, gusty winds pick up and will keep the temperatures feeling cold. Temperatures will feel into the teens and 20s during the day. Keep those winter layers handy, or at least a hat, scarf, pair of gloves and thick coat. They will be needed if you plan on being outside for a prolonged period of time.
By Monday, a system will try to swing up toward the tri-state area. It could threaten the region with snowfall for Monday, but the totals look low for now. After Monday, there are no chances for showers, but the cold air will linger into next week.
WHAT'S NEW: COLD, COLD, COLD.
WHAT'S NEXT: All the talk is around snow Monday, but right now models are showing cold air remains overhead, making it "too cold" to snow. The system looks like it stays south, bringing snow only to the southern parts of the tri-state area.
Tonight: Cold and breezy. Lows near 25.
Saturday: Partly sunny and breezy. Will feel like the teens. Highs near 34. Lows near 23.
Sunday: Partly sunny and breezy. Again, will be bitter cold feeling like the teens. Highs near 35. Lows near 25.
Monday: A system tracking toward us currently lands south of our area. This means we will likely see little to no snow. Cold air pouring south basically prevents it from snowing. Current totals are a trace to 1 inch and mainly for southern Rockland and Westchester counties. Highs near 32. Lows near 20.
Tuesday: A mix of sun and clouds. Windy and frigid. Highs near 30. Lows near 21.
