Spring Valley police are investigating the rape and robbery of a woman that took place Thursday morning.
The young woman, who is in her late 20s, says that she was attacked from behind while walking along a wooded path. She says that her attacker placed a knife to her throat, raped her and then robbed her of $80.
The victim says that following the incident, her attacker fled on foot. At that point, she went home to call the police.
She initially reported the attack as a robbery, but with the help of an interpreter, the Spanish-speaking woman told investigators that she was also raped. The young woman is recovering at a local hospital, investigators say.
The woman describes her attacker as a black male in his late teens, wearing a black jacket, blue jeans and a black backpack.
No one saw the alleged crime, including students at a nearby Yeshiva.
