Thousands of Yankees fans filled the new stadium to tune in to the away game on home turf Monday.
Though the Yankees are playing Game 3 of the ALCS in Anaheim, Calif., fans were ecstatic to get the opportunity to visit the new stadium for free and cheer on their favorite team. Many local residents say the ticket prices prohibited them from attending home games during the season, so they were excited to see inside at no cost.
The Yankees decided to open up the stadium after a consultation with Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr. The Yankees have not yet announced if the stadium will be open to view other away games.
