A veterans organization is closing its doors after 70 years of honoring those who served - with more than 40 years at one location in Yonkers.
Armando Rauso AMVETS Post 40 on Waverly Street is being forced to close at the location due to financial struggles brought on by the pandemic.
While the post is closing its doors for good, AMVETS Post 40 commander Sam Riti says they are still going to be monthly meetings at a new temporary space at Homefield House on Saw Mill River Road.
The new owner of the AMVETS Post 40 building says he plans to turn it into a day care center.
It's expected to be up and running in about a year.
