The deadline to get a Real ID is nearing. Starting May 7, a Real ID or valid passport will be required at airport security to fly anywhere in the U.S., prompting action from New York's DMV.
Ten DMVs across the state, including Yonkers, will open Saturdays from April 5 through June 28, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. "There's bound to be the inevitable increase to our offices because you do have to come to an office, you have to have a new picture taken as part of this license," a DMV official said, noting online renewals won't suffice.
Appointments are highly recommended online. Residents must bring specific documents, including proof of New York State residency.
