Yonkers fire chief: Person dies in early morning fire in Yonkers apartment

They say emergency crews tried lifesaving efforts on the victim but they died from their injuries.

A person was killed in an early morning apartment fire in Yonkers, according to the fire chief.
The fire occurred just before 1:30 a.m. at a second-floor apartment 1006 McLean Ave.
Officials say neighbors had initially called to report seeing flames.
They say emergency crews tried lifesaving efforts on the victim but they died from their injuries.
About 45 firefighters were at the building for around two hours.
