Yonkers officials said Monday that a public park at a marina will not go private.
Residents were concerned surrounding the future of the proposed Glenwood Power Plant redevelopment project.
"We just want to make sure that in the development of the property that parkland is not deeded to a private developer," said Elliot Scott, of River Communities Coalition of Yonkers.
People said they believed the Yonkers Planning Board granted the project's developer a group permit to privatize part of the park. City officials, however said that's not true.
They said the city will move forward with a plan to let them pave over the existing JFK Driveway to access the plant and connect it to the main road.
"It's going to remain city-owned property, either through an easement or an access agreement, or a carving out of what we need, which is a roadway and access into the building. Everything else remains park or greenspace," says developer Ray Ocasio.
