Another Yonkers neighborhood has been rocked by a second violent gang-related attack in a week, and police are searching for more than a dozen suspects.

A fight that originally started as a one-on-one altercation on North Broadway and Ashburton Avenue Thursday night spilled out into the street and turned into a massive gang attack.

Security footage released by police shows the victim getting hit in the head with a bottle around 9 p.m. Nearly 20 people dragged the victim to the ground and stomped on his body.

"This horrible storm of people just descending on him, knocking him to the point where he's completely unresponsive," said Yonkers Police Commissioner John Mueller.

Five people have been arrested and all have been charged with gang assault. Police are still looking for more than a dozen other people who allegedly got involved.

The victim is at a local trauma ward after suffering a brain hemorrhage, broken teeth as well as bruising and swelling to his face and body.

The incident is the second gang-related attack in this part of Yonkers in the last week -- three people were charged for allegedly taking part in a daylight drive-by shooting that injured four people.

The violence has lifelong residents looking for ways to stop it.

"Just praying, literally that we stop this, stop the violence. Because we don't need to be killing each other," said resident Linda Wright.

Police are asking for people who were present Thursday to come forward and help identify anyone else who may have been involved.

"We can't do this without the public, the good people. We can't do it unless they're willing to take a stand with us," Mueller said.
