Community violence prevention advocates gathered at the corner of Elm Street and Palisade Avenue in Yonkers on Thursday, days after a shooting at the same intersection left one person dead and four others injured.
The shooting happened Sunday night and claimed the life of a 20-year-old. A 16-year-old boy, two 15-year-old boys and a 14-year-old girl were also hospitalized. Authorities have charged a 15-year-old boy in connection with the shooting.

Members of the advocacy group SNUG (Should Never Use Guns) from Yonkers and Long Island gathered at the site to call for an end to gun violence and encourage community involvement. Speakers emphasized the lifelong consequences of gun violence and the importance of reaching young people before conflicts escalate.
"This is real life. When you're making a serious decision such as grabbing a gun, picking it up and shooting it, you can't turn back from that," said Maurice Burgess, of Yonkers SNUG.
