Families in Yorktown had a slow start to their day Friday morning, with both the Lakeland and Yorktown School districts starting with a two-hour delay.
In some areas of Yorktown, early birds woke up to no power after power lines had been affected.
"It was dark and cold..." said Yorktown resident, Claude Wallace. "So, [power] probably went out about one o'clock or so and then it came around at around sixish."
The Yorktown town supervisor says crews were out for a majority of the night, and will remain throughout the day to ensure safe driving conditions.
That includes salting, making sure roads are safe, trees and branches are cleared and wires are up and running.
"The weather is looking like its having a resurgence and if that's the case, we will have to go out and salt again prior to the weekend in particular," said Yorktown Superintendent of Highways Dave Paganelli.
Power has since been restored to the area.
