Twelve illegal immigrants were arrested Thursday for allegedly falsifying documents in order to get jobs on the grounds of Stewart Airport.
State police say the immigrants were hired by Empire Warehouse Solutions and had access to secure operations areas, but they never posed a threat to air travelers.
According to investigators, the probe was prompted by an airport employee who questioned the authenticity of the immigrants' Social Security and resident alien cards.
All 12 suspects are being held at the Orange County Jail. Police say once the charges against them are settled, most of them will be held for deportation.
