A man was found stabbed inside the lobby of a New Rochelle building early this morning after running from an apartment on Church Street.
Police received a call around 6:30 a.m. about a man on the sidewalk who had been stabbed.
Investigators said the 31‑year‑old victim was involved in an altercation inside one of the apartments in a new building at 12 Church Street and then ran outside.
The victim was conscious when first responders arrived, according to police. They said there was a large amount of blood both inside and outside the building.
He was stabbed in the upper leg, and investigators said it was possible an artery was nicked. “The victim had to go into surgery, appears to have a significant amount of blood loss and right now I believe he’s in stable condition,” said Captain Collins Coyne of the New Rochelle Police Department.
Police said the victim and the attacker know each other, but the relationship and cause of the altercation remain unclear.
No arrests have been made.
The area is still cordoned off as investigators continue to process the scene inside the Church Street building. A bloody pair of sneakers remained in the street.
