The streets of downtown Bridgeport were filled with celebration Saturday as Greater Bridgeport Pride hosted its annual Pride Festival.

Now in its 16th year, the event has grown from a small gathering into a day-long celebration that attracts people from across Connecticut.

The festivities kicked off with an art show, followed by a ceremony that featured performers at the corner of Elm and Broad streets.

Attendees then participated in a Pride march before they enjoyed a festival packed with activities and entertainment that was capped off by an after-party.

Organizers say Pride is both a celebration of identity and an opportunity to raise awareness about issues that impact the LGBTQ+ community.

The Bridgeport Pride Center provides resources and support services throughout the year from its office on Elm Street. More information is available here.
