A longtime Brewster destination is serving up a taste of Americana with classic burgers, soft-serve ice cream and family-friendly fun.
The Red Rooster Drive-In has been welcoming customers since the early 1960s and remains a favorite gathering spot for locals and visitors alike.
“It’s a great family business. It’s the kind of place, Americana, burgers, hot dogs, fried chicken,” said manager Andy Lintzeris.
While the restaurant is known for its burgers, the menu also includes seafood, wraps, salads and other options.
“We’re known for burgers. We’re the burger guys,” Lintzeris said. “Our double burgers are the most popular item.”
The burgers are made with fresh Angus beef that is ground daily.
Ice cream is another major draw.
“Ice cream is huge. We sell more ice cream than any other ice cream shop around,” Lintzeris said. “It’s all fresh, soft-serve ice cream.”
During the summer, the drive-in hosts a Saturday night DJ featuring doo-wop music.
Visitors can also enjoy the property’s vintage mini golf course.
“We have mini golf. The golf visit is a lot of fun. A lot of families enjoy it,” Lintzeris said.
He said the course has maintained its nostalgic character with wooden obstacles and a layout that dates back decades.
“It’s a family destination. They eat, they play golf, they come back for ice cream. They make a day of it,” Lintzeris said.
For many customers, that’s exactly what keeps them coming back year after year.
“There’s nothing like it around. Milkshakes, ice cream, burgers. You got to come down and try us,” he said.
