In case you need another reason to shop local this holiday season, 29 small businesses in downtown Newburgh are participating in this year’s “Shop Downtown Newburgh” event.

The shopping, dining and community event is being held this Saturday and Sunday (Nov. 25 and 26) from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Shoppers can pick up “passports” at Newburgh Mercantile, located at 75 Broadway, that can be stamped at each location and turned in for a prize entry.

This year, nine new businesses are participating, and the city has suspended their metered parking during the event.
