Officials in three Rockland towns have issued separate advisories for some residents to boil their water following pipe ruptures in each town.
Officials say two pipes ruptured Thursday morning in Orangeburg and New Hempstead. This came on the heels of a water main break on Wednesday in New City.
United Water officials say the cold weather causes the water to slow down in the pipes and cause stress that can lead to a break. They say affected residents should boil their water for one minute.
United Water representatives say they expect water-quality tests to come back Monday or Tuesday, but until then the boil water advisory is in effect.
