4 arrested in fatal Baychester mass shooting

Police say, shots rang out Saturday night at around 7:30 p.m. at a basketball court at Haffen Park where a back-to-school basketball tournament was being held.

Four people are in custody, two of them teenagers, and facing a slew of charges following a deadly shooting at a park in Baychester over the weekend.
Police have not released the names of the two teens, a 16-year-old and 17-year-old, since they are minors. Both are facing a number of charges including murder, gang assault, and criminal possession of a weapon. The two men arrested are 20-year-old Daeven Reyes, and 25-year-old Robert Royal. They're also charged with murder, attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon. Reyes also faces a gang assault charge.

Police say 5 people were shot, including 17-year-old girl Anthonaya Campbell, who was shot in the face and is still fighting for her life. News 12 spoke to Anthonaya Campbells mother who says they live right across the street and once her daughter heals the park will only be the sight of a horrible memory.
Three other victims walked into local hospitals with gunshot wounds. A 30-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman were shot in their backs. 32-year-old Jaceil Banks, died after he was shot in the chest.
According to NYPD data, compared to 2018,shooting victims and shooters under the age of 18 have gone up more than 200%.
