Despite increasing gasoline prices nationwide, AAA is expecting 40 million drivers to hit the road this Thanksgiving, a significant increase over last year.
By mid-afternoon, slow spots were developing on the Tappan Zee Bridge and the New York State Thruway.
Many drivers throughout the Hudson Valley say they are planning ahead for the traffic and taking extra time for their travels. Others say they are planning on taking smaller roads to avoid all the traffic.
For many of the drivers, they say that the first bite of Thanksgiving turkey will make the extra traffic and hassles worth it.
