Middletown High School was on high alert Friday due to reports of an active shooter at 7:15 a.m.
They say the disturbing threat on SnapChat post was being shared by students.
While they believe there is no credible threat, the administration and City of Middletown and Town of Wallkill police departments are investigating the situation thoroughly.
There were extra uniformed officers at the school this morning.
School officials are asking parents to speak with their children about the serious nature of posts made on social media.
