A new school bus safety program has launched in White Plains, where more than 100 buses are now equipped with AI-powered stop-arm cameras.
The cameras are designed to catch drivers who illegally pass stopped school buses.
For the first 30 days, violators will receive warnings instead of tickets.
"The most important thing we can do is be safe on the roads, in particular that we're stopping for school buses," says White Plains Schools Superintendent Dr. Joseph Ricca.
The city partnered with the White Plains City School District and safety technology company BusPatrol to roll out the program.
