An alleged argument over graffiti in the Town of Newburgh ended with a teenager stabbed and two teens arrested Wednesday night.
Town of Newburgh police say the teens were apparently marking their territory with paint.
?One group ? apparently painting over somebody else?s graffiti,? Lt. Michael Clancy, of the Town of Newburgh Police Department, said.
The teens told police the altercation started in front of a pizza place on Route 52. According to police, words were exchanged, which escalated into pushing and shoving and eventually the stabbing of a 15-year-old boy.
Police say 16-year-old Steven D?Ariano pulled out a 4-inch knife and stabbed the victim in the stomach and leg and fled. A police K-9 tracked down D?Ariano and 16-year-old John McGrath, who is accused of spraying graffiti.
Authorities say the victim had minor surgery and is expected to be in the hospital for several more days. They say his injuries are not considered life-threatening.
