NYPD investigators confirm the body of a missing Bronx woman was discovered in a wooded area on the northbound side of the Saw Mill River Parkway Thursday morning near the Palmer Road exit.
While police haven't officially released the victim's name, the family of Pamela Alcantara confirmed to News 12 that the woman found is their loved one.
Police have charged Junior Perez Diaz with second-degree murder, manslaughter and kidnapping.
The family had been frantically searching for the 26-year-old since Sunday. They say Pamela was last seen on surveillance video entering her Fordham Heights apartment building but there is no video of her leaving.
According to the family, Alcantara had a FaceTime call with her mother Sunday morning and said she planned on going to a church event, but she never made it there. They also say she was about to move out of the apartment she shared with her ex-boyfriend. Pamela's father Manuel Alcantara told News 12 the family is devastated saying, "There are no words in my heart. I want justice, this shouldn't happen to anyone."
The medical examiner is conducting an autopsy to determine an official cause of death for Pamela Alcantara.
