Bridgeport Police Chief Roderick Porter announced Wednesday the creation of a specialized task force dedicated entirely to enforcing local quality-of-life ordinances.

The new police unit will focus on community-level violations already on the books.

Target areas range from neighborhood blight to illegally parked commercial vehicles

"Quality-of-life things lead to bigger issues," said Detective Jeff Holtz. "We want to try and nip it in the bud and really respond to what the community is telling us."
