Bronx Community College has announced a new program in which life coaches will help guide students, who are also parents, to succeed in their studies and in life.
The school already has an early childhood care center where students can drop off their toddlers while they study for just $5 a day.
Life coaches will help students navigate obstacles outside of school, such as doing homework while raising kids or finding a job in their field of study. Some of the coaches were student parents themselves, so they know exactly what current students are going through.
The program is being sponsored by a $500,000 grant from the Kellogg Foundation, and is the first of its kind in the CUNY system.
