Taxes and the FAA's new flight plan over the Hudson Valley are taking center stage in the race for Orangetown supervisor.
Democratic incumbent Thom Kleiner told News 12 Hudson Valley the town has enjoyed the lowest tax increases in Rockland County during his six terms. He also said other issues are important for anyone wanting to hold the post.
"Fighting the FAA on the redesign plan for the airspace, the future of the Tappan Zee Bridge, the future of Indian Point. All of those things, if you're in Orangetown, are also going to be important," Kleiner said.
Republican challenger Nick Del Pizzo is getting the word out door-to-door during his campaign. He recently served as surrogate court judge in Rockland and judge of South Nyack. He feels Orangetown needs better management and promised to forgo part of his salary to keep taxes low.
"I'm willing to waive 10 percent of my salary to give it to the taxpayers to set a tone to show the serious nature of my quest," Del Pizzo said.
News 12 will have complete coverage of the race before and after the polls close at 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6.
