The rate of gun-related homicides in the U.S. has finally decreased, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
New 2022 data released by the CDC shows that for the first time since the start of the pandemic the national gun homicide rate has fallen.
Between 2019 and 2020 the rate increased about 35% and increased even more in 2021.
The CDC attributes the increase to a range of factors including social and health care related inequities all worsened by the pandemic.
