Protesters took to the steps of City Hall Monday to make it known that they will not allow the Bronx to be shortchanged when it comes to AIDS funding.

The protest comes on the heels of a report released by City Comptroller William Thompson. Thompson criticizes how the city is distributing $471 million from the federal government. The money is meant to help low-income and minorities with AIDS get the services they need.

The executive director of Health People was among the protesters and agrees with Thompson. She says her group has lost $246,000 for services that help families. She says she is trying to raise private money to restart certain programs because she believes they are vital to the borough.
