Children attending private schools in the cash-strapped Clarkstown School District may have to find alternative ways to get to class on the days public schools are off.
The school district's decision to cut costs could result in private schools losing about nine days of busing unless the superintendent amends the spending plan.
"If the public school system is closed, I think it should be up to the private schools to pick up the tab," says parent Richard Mathes, of Nanuet.
The issue is expected to be discussed at an upcoming school board meeting after many private school parents have expressed concerns.
