Community leaders and acting U.S. Secretary of Labor Julie Su gathered on Tuesday to talk about the health and safety of local laborers.

The roundtable discussion, which included the National Day Laborer Organization Network, took place at New Rochelle’s United Community Center of Westchester.

"Many of them are Latino workers who face very regular abuses,” said Su. “And so being here is about understanding their struggles and also being clear that we stand with them in their fight for a more just workplace."

Su also said the discussion helps reinforce the trust in the partnership and commitment to enforce basic labor laws for both workers and employers.
