Congers woman's children's book chronicles local family of bald eagles

Jane Aguilar Murphy spent hours, four days a week, for several months from 2020 to 2021 photographing the baby bird become an adult.

A Rockland County woman has written a children's book about a local family of bald eagles.
Jane Aguilar Murphy's book is called "Hi, My Name is Skye." It's about bald eagles that live near Strawtown Road in West Nyack, specifically about one she saw grow up before her eyes.
The Congers woman spent hours, four days a week, for several months from 2020 to 2021 photographing the baby bird become an adult. She took about 20,000 pictures and her book features those snapshots along with a story.
Murphy hopes to inspire others, including kids.
"I want people to realize the nature we have in our own backyard. We don't have to go to another state. We don't have to go anywhere if we just look, up in the air, all the bird we have. The animals, chipmunks, everything. That's what I want to get children into - nature," she said.
