A local congresswoman is calling on the government to give Westchester, the city and state more federal terrorism dollars. When it comes to getting money to combat bioterrorism, New York State ranks 41st out of 54 areas in the country. At White Plains Hospital Monday morning, Congresswoman Nita Lowey (D-Harrison) called for changing the formula. Since 9/11 Lowey says Westchester has received less than $1 million to fight a potential bioterrorism attack. Westchester is on the radar of terrorists because of Indian Point in Buchanan and New York City's drinking water supply at the Kensico Dam. Federal dollars are helping local fire departments train for an emergency, but Westchester's Health Commissioner Joshua Lipsman says more is needed.
