The Rockland County project to improve drainage in Orangetown has some residents in Pearl River concerned it will cause more flooding then in the past.

Rockland County is spending $1.8 million to improve a drainage system that it says will benefit local businesses and homeowners. As part of the project the county says it intends on replacing specific culverts, that allow water to flow underneath the street, as well as improving the banks and removing sediment for the Pascack Brook.

Residents say these replacements will greatly increase the flow of water, which they believe may mean trouble for sure local streams and banks.
