The New York State Comptroller’s office has released its final 2021 fiscal stress report for 2021 and it shows wide disparity amongst Hudson Valley communities.
Westchester County officials tweeted out that the county was rated in the “best category” meaning Westchester is on great financial footing. It is like having a high credit score -- makes it easier to borrow money.
However, the New York State Comptroller's office rated the City of Poughkeepsie as the most fiscally stressed municipality in the entire state.
Meaning, they have not been able to pay off their debt and maintain a healthy budget. It's the third year in a row that the city has been given a poor rating.
The East Ramapo Central School District is the worst ranked school in New York.
Westchester County Executive George Latimer says his team is working on the budget right now and there will be public forums where you can submit your thoughts in October.
