Emergency crews needed to cut the roof to extricate the driver of an SUV that crashed into the woods off the Palisades Parkway in Rockland County.

The Hillcrest Fire Company says it happened before 7 a.m. Thursday on the southbound parkway.

Crews arriving at the scene found two cars. An SUV was found crushed into a tree with its back torn off. Fire officials say the driver of that SUV was trapped inside.

Crews worked to stabilize the vehicle and cut the roof to free the driver.

There is no word on that person's condition, if anyone else was injured or what caused the crash.
