It only took a matters of minutes for Westchester County to give out a 250 at-home tests to people in Croton Monday.
The first person showed up in line at 6:30 a.m. at the Croton-Harmon train station for a giveaway that didn’t start until 10 a.m.
By the time 10 a.m. arrived, there was a line of cars spanning the entire parking lot, and demand far exceeded the supply.
Chris Coccaro tells News 12 he wanted to get tested before seeing friends upstate who are immunocompromised. "I want to make sure that I'm absolutely clean when I go to see them. I'd love to see them for the holidays."
Heather Gillis did it for her family. “Because I have an 89-year-old mother that lives with me, and it's very important that I keep her safe."
Village Manager Bryan Healy had to apologize to people who went home empty-handed and hopes the county will give them another shipment. His message to people who struck out today is to keep trying. “We have two local pharmacies in the village that have the test," says Healy.
