A CSX spokesperson says a 23-year-old woman died on Wednesday after falling from a train as a result of freighthopping.
Stony Point police say the California woman got on a CSX freight train in Philadelphia with a few friends trying to get to Syracuse.
It appears she was between cars when she fell off near River Road near Tompkins Cove.
Police believe no foul play was involved.
The freight company released a statement saying, "CSX reminds the public that being on railroad property or riding on rail equipment is criminal trespassing, which is both illegal and very dangerous."
