September is World Alzheimer’s Month.
Approximately 7 million Americans are living with the disease, about 55 million worldwide.

It is the most common form of dementia.
There is no cure, but progress is being made.
The disease not only affects the patient but family members who must often make great sacrifices to be the caregiver for their loved ones.
The Alzheimer's Association Hudson Valley chapter will hold its annual bridge lighting party Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Horan's Landing in Sleepy Hollow to watch as the bridge is lit up in purple.
There will be music, raffles, food, country line dancing as well as information on how to get help and much needed support. The event is free and open to everyone. An after party/ fund raiser to continue enjoying the bridge will be held at the waterfront Sailhouse restaurant in Tarrytown.
