Deputy Orange County Executive Harry Porr has resigned from the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) Board to focus on his county government obligations.

Porr resigned in March with more than two years left on his term.

“The MTA assignment was a wonderful experience that gave me much information on the operations and challenges of the agency. I have great respect for the people who work day to day keeping the trains and buses running every day. I enjoyed working with my fellow board members and appreciate their voluntary service,” Porr said in a statement to News 12.

“The MTA is an important regional service and should get more, better, and predictable funding from the Federal government. The two years I served were enlightening and valuable, but my work as Deputy County Executive comes first.”

Porr’s term was set to expire at the end of 2025.

County Executive Steve Neuhaus is reviewing applications for a new appointee.
