A 14-year-old from Saddle Brook was fatally shot by Israeli soldiers in the West Bank on Sunday.
The family of Amer Rabee is calling on the U.S. government to perform a full investigation into what they term a murder.
Relatives of Amer Rabee say the teen was with friends picking green almonds when he was shot by Israeli soldiers.
However, the Israeli Defense Forces released a statement that the teen and two others were fired on while they were throwing rocks onto a highway.
Leaders at the Palestinian American Community Center in Clifton say they are angered over the death.
“Amer was a 14-year-old child, and his only fault was that he held the identity of a Palestinian. It is our responsibility as the adults of the world to protect our children," said Rania Mustafa, executive director of the Palestinian American Community Center.
Gov. Phil Murphy and Sens. Cory Booker and Andy Kim have all stated that they support a full investigation into the teen’s death.
