Officials across the Hudson Valley are bracing for the winter weather heading this way.

"They do everything they can to prep the roads in advance," says Putnam County Executive Kevin Byrne.

Officials across the Hudson Valley say getting ready for the wintry weather is all about staying ahead.

"We've had crews out starting this morning, brining streets all over the city. They will be out throughout the evening," says Jason Baker who is with the Yonkers Public Works Department.

Baker says their full fleet of plows will be out. Salt will be put down.

However, it's not just snow they're likely going up against.

"Where there is rain on top of snow, that obviously increases the chance that you could seeing puddling or ponding on some of our streets, we will be on the lookout for that," says Baker.

While crews gear up for that, other parts of the Hudson Valley like in Newburgh, a snow emergency has been declared for Saturday evening.

That means parking won't be allowed on designated snow emergency routes.

You can read those details here.

Emergency crews are urging people to stay off the roads once the snow starts falling. If you do need to drive, use caution and take it easy.
