East Ramapo High School honored the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with its 16th annual MLK Day celebration on Monday.
The celebration brought together students, staff, and community members for a program centered on unity, service, and hope.
The event also featured student-led performances including music, dance, and speeches that reflected King’s enduring message of equality and justice.
Organizers say the celebration gives students a platform to express themselves while showing how King’s vision still influences their lives today. It also serves as a reminder that young people can be powerful voices for positive change in their community.
Event MC Anthony Burrows emphasized the importance of keeping Dr. King’s dream alive, especially during challenging times.
“I think it’s important to keep the dream alive for Martin Luther King with everything going on in the world today,” Burrows said. “It’s important more than ever with everything going on throughout the economy and throughout the country, and I think the kids need to see this to see some positive change and lift throughout the community.”
School leaders say the annual celebration continues to inspire students to stand up for what is right and to carry forward King’s message of hope and progress.
