The family of a slain NYPD officer and Dobbs Ferry native wants the public's help to keep his killer, who will appear before the parole board in September, behind bars.
Officer Thomas Ruotolo was fatally shot while on the job on Valentine's Day in 1984.
Now nearly 40 years later, convicted killer George Agosto is set to go before the parole board next month.
The officer's widow, Mary Beth O'Neill, wants people to know Agosto was already on parole when he killed her husband. She also wants the parole board to keep him in prison.
"Today, I had to beg the parole board not to disrespect my husband's legacy," O'Neill said. "And now I am begging the public, resubmit the petition on the PA website and demand that George Agusto stays in jail."
Agosto has served 39 years of his 40-year sentence.
