Federal agents arrested a rabbi in Monsey for allegedly abusing his eldest daughters for years.
According to the U.S. attorney's office, Rabbi Israel Weingarten, a father of eight, molested his daughter as far back as 1997.
Six of Weingarten's other children say the claim is untrue. Attorney Kenneth Gribetz says the charges stem from a messy divorce with the girl's mother.
"Unfortunately these charges which really were brought out of bitterness from a matrimonial action resulted in an innocent man being incarcerated," he says.
If convicted, Weingarten could face 50 years behind bars.
