A two-alarm fire in two Bronx apartment buildings Friday has left dozens of people homeless.

The fire broke out at 740 E. 214th St. and quickly spread to the neighboring building. Fire officials say when they tried to do a search of the buildings, heavy flames forced them out. All of the residents were able to get out of the buildings safely.

Officials say at least 30 people were living in one of the buildings that was destroyed in the blaze. The Red Cross is currently helping those families who need shelter. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
