The unseasonably snowless winter is keeping the shelves full at local hardware stores.
Businesses such as Goldberg Hardware store in Tarrytown and Foley Hardware store in Larchmont are fully stocked for winter. Items like ice melt have not been flying off the shelves.
"Even things as simple as work gloves and insulation are just not selling like they would if the weather was what it should be this time of year," says Bernie, the store manager of Foley Hardware. They say they are not particularly worried, and that the weather isn't causing them to sound the alarms just yet.
"Whatever is going to happen this winter, we still have some ways to go," says Bernie. "This stuff, it's stored in the right environment, it's not going to go bad," says Greg Goldberg, owner of Goldberg Hardware.
Both say they'll be stocked and ready when the time does arrive - whether it's a need for ice melt, a shovel or even an ice scraper, they'll have it.
