Central Avenue in Greenburgh is getting a new, special traffic light near the Sacred Heart Church.
Over 23,000 vehicles travel up the four lane road.
It's also been the site of many crashes, including when an 11- and 14-year-old were hit trying to cross the busy street in 2019.
Since then, local leaders and the community filed a petition for the light.
A HAWK, or High-Intensity Activated Crosswalk signal, allows pedestrians to push a button to turn the light red while they cross.
The pedestrian-activated light will go up on Central Avenue at the corner of Lawton.
