Here are some stories making headlines across the Hudson Valley.
A garage was badly damaged by a fire Saturday afternoon. Police in the Town of Ramapo say this fire happened on South Airmont Road in the Village of Airmont. That road was closed as firefighters worked to put out the fire but has since reopened. There is no word yet on what caused the fire or if any injuries were suffered.
One person was killed after a single-vehicle accident in central Westchester on Sunday. Police say their initial investigation indicates Jaylan P. Jaijairam, 18, of Bronx, was operating a 2020 Dodge Challenger at a high rate of speed and was unable to negotiate a curve on the Taconic State Parkway, north of Exit 5..  The vehicle rotated one-hundred and eighty degrees before striking the guiderail and overturning. Jaijairam was taken to Westchester Medical Center where he died of his injuries. According to fire officials, there was no one else in the vehicle.
The village of Pelham Manor is opting out of displaying the LGBTQ+ pride flag for the month of June, leading to backlash from a local lawmaker. State Sen. Alessandra Biaggi (D-34th District) issued a statement in response to the village's decision saying in part, "It is my sincere hope that all communities within District 34 will not only fly rainbow flags with pride this month, but will renew their commitment to fight for equality for the LGBTQ+ community."
